Senate OKs Governance Act

May 30, 2011 - The Senate on Monday ratified a bill setting standards for government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCC) and creating a body that will govern them. The GOCC Governance Act of 2011, which creates the Governance Council for GOCCs, was approved with only one objection from Sen. Joker Arroyo. It was earlier approved by senators and congressmen comprising the bicameral conference committee. Once ratified by the House of Representatives, it only needs the President's signature to become a law. (Continue reading)
