Raymart: Kicking Claudine was last straw
MANILA, Philippines - Actor Raymart Santiago on Tuesday said he got angry at columnist Ramon Tulfo for kicking his wife, Claudine Barretto.
Santiago said Tulfo had already punched and kicked him after he asked the columnist why he was taking pictures of Barretto.
He said he was willing to forgive Tulfo but was incensed when the veteran journalist kicked his wife.
"Sa lahat po ng lalake na nakikitang sinasaktan ang kanilang asawa, pareho rin ang gagawin nila," he told ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda.
"Sinipa po niya ang asawa ko, tinulak niya. Hindi ko kayang kalimutan yun e dahil babae pinatulan niya..." he added.
A YouTube video has shown members of Santiago's group beating up Tulfo at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Tulfo has filed libel and grave coercion charges against the couple.
Santiago said his wife's leg and back are still hurting after the incident. He said their children were traumatized by the brawl.
The actor said he is saddened by threats made by Tulfo's brothers that they will retaliate against him and his wife.
He said he has no quarrel against the Tulfo brothers, adding that violence will not solve the issue.
He added, however, that he does not see why the Tulfos would threaten violence against Barretto.
He said he does not know if he will take legal action against the Tulfo brothers.
