MANILA - Phoebe Salvatierra, a singer from Olongapo City, defended her "Tawag ng Tanghalan" crown on Saturday, holding off a strong challenge from Michael Odemene.

On "It's Showtime" on Saturday, both Salvatierra and Odemene opted for a more mellow track to perform for the competition's daily finals. She sang Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," while he crooned "I'll Make Love to You."

Salvatierra will return on Monday for a shot at her third straight win. She will need five in order to move on to the semi-finals of the amateur singing contest.
