MANILA, Philippines - Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala on Thursday said damage to agriculture from tropical storm Quinta is seen to be minimal.
In an interview with DZMM's Failon Ngayon, Alcala said rice crops in the areas devastated by Quinta are located "upland," where it is safe from flooding.
No initial estimate of the damage has been given, as Alcala said his agency is still assessing the areas at present.
Quinta, which intensified into a tropical storm on Monday, battered Visayas, killed six people and left three more missing.
