Water rates are set to go up next year.

Effective January 1, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. will increase its rates by P1.26 per cubic meter for unsewered customers and P1.47 for sewered customers.

This means customers will pay P851 for every 30 cubic meters of water.

Meanwhile, Manila Water will charge P83 for every 10 cubic meters of water. This is an increase from last year's rate of P80.

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System approved the rate hike citing adjustments in foreign exchange rates. ([email protected], December 19, 2012)
