MANILA - Female entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia should uplift their smaller counterparts to make their businesses more competitive, a Filipino businesswoman said Tuesday.

The Philippines will host at the end of the month the ASEAN Women's Business Conference which aims to promote gender equality and inclusivity.

"Together, stronger women bring up the smaller women products and services towards a global reach," said Great Women founder Jeannie Javelosa.

Great Women produces bags, dresses and accessories using indigenous fabrics. Javelosa said she has partnered with entrepreneurs in Myanmar, Cambodia and Malaysia.

"It's so important because the very competitive global market is something that is so difficult to enter especially if you're just a small woman entrepreneur," she said.
