MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom president and CEO Ernest Cu told Business Nightly on March 29 that the deal between competitors Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) and Digital Telecommunications was not totally unexpected. He said players in a matured market, like that of the US, usually needs to consolidate to remain competitive.

Cu, however, said that Globe will stick to their customer-centric strategies already in place.

PLDT remains the telecommunications industry player, followed by Globe and Digitel.
