MANILA, Philippines -- Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio delos Reyes said the Land Registration Authority is in the process of digitizing land titles to help the agency function more efficiently.

In an interview with ANC, Delos Reyes said the delay in the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program extension was due to the country's poor land records.

He added the technical description of private agricultural lands that are up for distribution were problematic.
Delos Reyes said the department also had to conduct a new land survey just to correct an existing land record.

The DAR secretary has been criticized for his agency's alleged slow action in distributing land titles to farmer beneficiaries under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.
