MANILA - With just a four-word Twitter post, Sandro Marcos, the grandson of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., once again found himself at the receiving end of criticisms.
This time, the 22-year old Marcos tweeted his praise for the latest blockbuster film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."
"Rogue One is incredible," the young Marcos shared to his 283,000 Twitter followers.
But several netizens were quick to point out the irony in the situation.
The film, directed by British filmmaker Gareth Edwards, follows the story of a band of rebels trying to overthrow an evil empire.
Twitter users told the young Marcos that the story was similar to how the People Power Revolution in 1986 overthrew the dictatorship of his grandfather.
"Yeah. The Rebellion is like People Power, The New Republic is Martial Law, and Darth Vader is your lolo (grandfather)," said one Twitter user.
"You know what's more incredible? Admitting your family's crimes against the Philippines and apologizing for them," said another Twitter user.
Twitter user @iamlancer asked the young Marcos: "Does it remind you of something? Something that involves your family?"
Twitter user @dreamingofyoo, meanwhile, said: "You know what's more incredible? Philippines did that few decades ago. Overthrew your tyrannical family."
Another netizen Salvador Aquino said: "The Force is strong with the irony."
Others, however, came to the defense of the young Marcos.
"Poor @sandromarcos7 is being cyberbullied by millennials. Suppression of freedom of the press is no different from cyberbullying," Twitter user Pepe Alas said.
"Twitter trolls, enough cyber bullying. Leave the kid alone. I don't like the Marcoses, but please," Twitter used Gianna Catolico said.
