SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Utah Jazz starting point guard Mo Williams has been sidelined indefinitely because of an injured right thumb, the NBA club announced on Sunday.
Williams, whose thumb underwent an MRI exam, suffered the injury in a loss Saturday at Miami and will be further evaluated on Monday.
Jamaal Tinsley will take the started backcourt spot in place of the 30-year-old guard, who has averaged 12.9 points and 6.7 assists over 24 games so far this season.
The Jazz began the season 14-14, last in the Northwest division.
Williams, in his 10th NBA season, has career averages of 13.8 points and 4.9 assists a game over 613 games with the Jazz, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers.
