MANILA, Philippines – Even as he wishes to be named as Fighter of the Year, boxing champion Nonito Donaire Jr. is already assured of a Christmas gift that goes with his win against Mexican Jorge Arce.

The fight, which saw Donaire blasting Arce out with a third-round technical knockout, gave the “Filipino Flash” his first million-dollar pay day.

“For this fight it's the biggest pay that I got,” Donaire told broadcaster Pinky Webb in his appearance on [email protected] “And we're looking at to keep it increasing.”

But the Filipino boxer stressed that that it’s not really about the money but about getting the biggest fights available and pleasing his fans.

“I don't really see it that way… I want to make other people happy and to me that’s more important than anything,” Donaire explained.

The boxing champion also brought to the studio his Ring Magazine title and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight title he defended against Arce.

Donaire arrived in the Philippines Wednesday morning following his sensational victory against Arce. He arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 via Philippine Airlines flight PR 105 at 5:45 a.m.

In an interview with reporters at the airport, Donaire thanked his supporters who rejoiced his victory, which many consider a vindication for the Philippines after the recent loss of Filipino boxing icon Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao to another Mexican, Juan Manuel Marquez.

"Nagpapasalamat ako sa inyong lahat. Without you, wala ako. Kayo ang inspiration ko at sana nabigyan ko kayo ng something to smile and something to be proud. Ginawa ko lahat ng makakaya ko to get the knockout. Sana everybody could have a good Christmas," he said.
