MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine men’s national football team dropped four spots in the latest FIFA World Rankings after their semi-final exit in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup earlier this month.
The Philippine Azkals are now ranked 147, four spots down from their previous rank of 143, which was their highest-ever rating.
For the second straight tournament, the Azkals advanced to the semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup, but lost to powerhouse Singapore 1-0 on aggregate.
But the Azkals -- now ranked 22nd in Asia -- are still ahead of Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Thailand rose 16 places and are now ranked 136th.
World and European champions Spain remain the highest ranked team, followed by Germany and Argentina. Italy rose to No. 4, while Colombia climbed three spots to No. 5.
