MANILA, Philippines – Heavy-handed fighter Johny Hendricks remains hopeful that he will get a title shot against reigning UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
But first, he needs to beat Jake Elleberger on March 16 in Canada as St-Pierre chose to defend his title against Nick Diaz.
"[I] just have to win and GSP has nowhere to hide from me,” Hendricks said in MMA Fighting.
Hendricks, who knocked out Martin Kampmann in 46 seconds last November, has a record of 14-1 with eight knockouts.
Hendricks claimed that St-Pierre is scared, which is why he decided to take on Diaz instead.
"He wants me to keep fighting because maybe I'll lose and then he won't have to retire [before fighting me]," he said.
