LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Boxing congressman Manny Pacquiao fights twice a year in this part of the US, as he provides an economic boost for the world's boxing capital.

US Senator Harry Reid cited Pacquiao's significant contribution to the State of Nevada.

“Manny is a true friend of Nevada’s, whether he’s training or fighting in our state. His sport is a major player in our state’s economic arena and I, along with millions of others around the world, look forward to a great fight,” said Reid in a letter to ABS-CBN North America News Bureau.

Each time Pacquiao fights in the "Sin City," the one industry that profits the most is the betting business of different casinos in Las Vegas.

In this fight between the Filipino and his Mexican rival, a $290 Pacquiao bet gives a winner $100, while a $230 bet on Marquez gets the winner $230.

The betting odds were closer compared to Pacquiao's last fight against Bradley when a $450 bet on the Filipino boxer will only yield $100.

Pinoys in Las Vegas are supporting Pacquiao.

But some of them plan to gamble on proposition betting or knockout by rounds.

“Kalahati ng sweldo ko ay itataya ko kay Pacman,” said one Filipino fan. -- Bev Llorente, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
