Pacquiao adviser meets with Mayweather
MANILA, Philippines - Michael Koncz, the business adviser of Filipino boxer Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, visited undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas last week.
According to the New York Daily News, Koncz visited Mayweather at the latter's gym in Las Vegas.
But according to Mayweather's adviser, Leonard Ellerbe, no business was discussed between his boxer and Koncz.
"He was in a group of people that came by the gym and was greeted by Floyd, who is friendly with everybody that comes by the gym," Ellerbe said, adding that Mayweather does not know who Koncz is.
He added Koncz took some pictures with Mayweather.
Ellerbe announced last month that Mayweather was aiming to return to the ring on May 5, 2012, possibly against Pacquiao.
Pacquiao confirmed last week that negotiations are ongoing between his camp and Mayweather's, although nothing has been finalized.
But Koncz's visit to the Mayweather Gym was seen as a positive sign for most boxing observers, who have been hoping for a Pacquiao-Mayweather mega-fight for years.
Top Rank chief executive officer Bob Arum has already confirmed with RingTV.com that he is fielding offers from potential investment groups that are interested in holding the fight.
"There are more than two groups. We've been fielding proposals and we're talking to people," Arum confirmed.
