Sacapaño vows best to help team reach KO stage
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-German Roland Muller may be able to join his Azkals teammates in the knockout stages of the 2012 Suzuki Cup.
Azkals team manager Dan Palami told Pinoy Football’s David Pallasigue that this is the reason why the 5’11” goal keeper was included in the 22-man roster for the biennial tournament.
The inclusion of Muller in the final lineup is a welcome development for the team, which will be playing minus Filipino-British keeper Neil Etheridge.
Philippine Army man Eduard Sacapaño, who was the Philippines’ biggest hero in the recent drubbing of Singapore, will be manning the goal keeping duties in the group stage.
Sacapaño promises to do a good job against their Group A opponents Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar to make sure that the Azkals will reach the semis.
"I want to focus in helping the team make it to the semi-finals and if Muller comes by then, it's nice 'coz he is a good player. For me, I'm OK if Muller plays in the semi-finals and hopefully, finals. I will do my job so he (Muller) can play in the semi-finals," said the 32-year-old Ilonggo.
