RP softballers champions in Bangkok tourney

The Philippines-Cebuana Lhuiller copped the President’s Cup at the 16th Annual Bangkok International Slowpitch Softball by defeating the South Korean Guzzlers, 13-10, over the weekend in Thanyaburi, Thailand.

A report posted on SportsNews.ph said the title victory was RP’s third over the Koreans, whom they beat twice in the round of eight en route to the finals.

The Filipinos relied on hard hitters Mark Ramirez, Apol Rosales and Manuel Binarao, who formed the core of their offense.

The Filipinos, who will return to Manila on Tuesday, showed class against their competitors from around the globe which included 20 teams from China, Japan, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong.

The Filipinos overpowered the South Koreans, 5-1, and 13-10, and the Club Tilac of Bangkok, 5-2, in the Final Eight to earn the finals match with Korea.
