MANILA, Philippines – Drian "Gintong Kamao" Francisco earned his fourth straight victory after defeating Mexican fight Javier Gallo via a fifth-round technical knockout Saturday at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles.

The two fighters got off to a fast start, with Gallo sustaining a cut in his left eye as early as the second round, according to a PhilBoxing report.

The Mexican remained aggressive, however, as he kept pressuring Francisco throughout the third round. Francisco would utilize better movement in the fourth round and countered well whenever Gallo approached.

In the fifth round, Francisco caught Gallo with an uppercut-straight combination that sent the Mexican reeling. "Gintong Kamao" poured it on, leading the referee to stop the fight at the 2:54 mark.

"Nahirapan ako kasi maliit siya," Francisco told Boxing Scene of the 5-foot-3 Gallo. "Ibang style, fighter talaga."

It was Francisco’s fourth straight victory since losing for the first time in May 2011. His record improved to 24 wins with one loss, with 19 wins coming by knockout.

Meanwhile, Gallo suffered his sixth loss against 18 career wins. It was the third time that the Mexican has been knocked out in his career.
