PH rolls past Thailand in World Baseball Classic qualifier

MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippines took advantage of Thailand's errors to score 3 runs in the fourth inning and beat its Asian neighbor, 8-2, in the opener of the World Baseball Classic qualifiers.

Alec Rosales and Andres Vazquez each drove in two runs, and Ryan Pineda and Fernando Laurel each had three hits.

Jon Jon Robles got the win, allowing one unearned run in 4 1/3 innings.

The Philippines will next face host Chinese Taipei, which routed New Zealand, 10-0. -- ANC
