Manila, Philippines — Barangay Ginebra has sent Nico Salva to Mahindra in exchange for a future second-round draft pick.
The initial plan was to ship Salva to Meralco in a potential reunion with his former Ateneo de Manila University coach Norman Black and Blue Eagles teammates Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Justin Chua and Chris Newsome but the trade was nixed.
Salva signed a one-year contract with Mahindra. The deal guarantees him nearly P2 million.
The trade was first reported by Spin.
Salva, who won the title in each and every one of the five seasons he played at Ateneo, played just 16 games in the 2015-16 season, averaging a little below nine minutes a game and 2.7 points.
After news about his trade broke, Salva thanked Ginebra fans for their support.
