MANILA, Philippines – After a slow start to their season, the Boston Celtics are now on a roll, defeating the Utah Jazz, 98-93, for their third straight victory and fifth in their last six games.
Paul Pierce finished with 23 points, including the game-clinching free throws in the final 20 seconds of the game.
Reserves Jeff Green and Leandro Barbosa also had significant contributions with 16 points apiece, while Rajon Rondo had 10 assists to record his 32nd straight game with at least 10 or more helpers.
Rondo’s 10 assists came in only 25 minutes of action, as the All-Star point guard was forced to leave the game after rolling his ankle in the third period.
“Our whole bench gave us a big lift to night. It was a big win, they really helped carry us through the game,” Pierce told NBA.com.
Boston moved to 5-3 this season, while Utah dropped to 4-5. Report from ANC
