MANILA, Philippines – Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has ruled out the possibility of co-promoting with Oscar de la Hoya the possible clash between super bantamweight kings Nonito Donaire Jr. and Abner Mares.

Arum said he is not open to holding a regular co-promotion with Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions (GBP), which rivals his Top Rank Inc.

“We have no interest in working with Golden Boy. However we will offer them a sum of money for the services of Mares, put them up as a co-promoter but we have no interest doing a regular co-promotion with them,” the veteran promoter told Boxing Scene

Donaire fights under Top Rank, while Mares is under contract with Golden Boy.

Donaire, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight champion, is due to defend his title against Mexican boxer Jorge Arce on December 15.

The World Boxing Council (WBC) title holder Mares, on the other hand, is coming off a lopsided decision against Anselmo Moreno over the weekend.
