MANILA, Philippines – Two-division champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes will face Thailand’s Danai Meendaeng on Saturday.
The 10-round, non-title fight will take place at the Macias Sports Complex in the coastal city of Dumaguete in Negros Occidental, according to Philboxing.
"I have been training non-stop and have been very disciplined with all aspects of my training as a pro boxer. As a fighter, I believe I always have to be prepared and focused,” said Nietes, the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior flyweight champion.
The Meendaeng fight will serve as a tune-up for his title defense against a still unnamed opponent next year.
ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer said they will be lining up Nietes for a February fight date.
"We have already finalized next year's plans and we are excited for yet another great year for Philippine boxing. We already have a February 2 Pinoy Pride XVIII date for next year for his title defense," he said.
