MANILA, Philippiones – Some members of the Philippine national men’s football team, including Phil and James Younghusband, attended the opening of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup in Cebu Sunday.

The Aboitiz Football Cup is the biggest football tournament in Cebu, with more than 100 teams taking part.

The Azkals mingled with their Cebuano fans, who will get to watch their football idols in action when the national team takes on the Singapore Lions in a friendly on November 15 at the Cebu City Sports Complex.

"We are looking forward to the match, it's the first big match in Cebu in a long, long time. It's going to be very exciting for the Azkals and for the fans as well," said Azkals coach Michael Weiss.

The friendly against Singapore will be Azkals' last test match before the AFF Suzuki Cup.

"We're not complete (for the Suzuki Cup)," Weiss said, explaining that some Europe-based players were unavailable. "Nevertheless, we'll play with a very strong team and it’s going to be very exciting."

Weiss said he will give players who performed well in the Philippine Peace Cup a chance to play in the Singapore friendly, along with the Younghusband brothers. – Report from Ilijah Hermogenes, ABS-CBN News Central Visayas
