MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine national rugby team finished seventh among 10 countries in the 2015 Asia Rugby Sevens Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Hong Kong, and failed to secure a ticket to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The Philippine Volcanoes didn't make it to the Cup semifinals as they placed fourth in Pool B, with only one win – a 38-10 rout of Iran – against three defeats.

They bowed to China in the Plate semifinals, 15-26, but recovered to down Singapore, 24-12, in the playoff for seventh and eighth places.
