MANILA, Philippines – Legendary volleyball coach Florentino "Kid" Santos, who is best known for leading Far Eastern University (FEU) to multiple titles, passed away on Wednesday morning. He was 67.
FEU athletic director Mark Molina, who confirmed the news to ABS-CBN News, paid tribute to Santos, saying: "Learned so much about handling athletes from Kid Santos. Great coach, even better person and father to all FEU athletes. You will truly be missed."
Details have yet to be released regarding Santos's wake.
An FEU lifer, Santos was the director of university's volleyball program at the time of his death. He had played a major role in the rise of FEU volleyball, having been a player and a coach for the school before becoming program director.
He is survived by three children and his wife.
