It's understood by his camp that Kevin Belingon's bantamweight bout against South Korean's Kevin Chung is a stepping stone for the Filipino fighter in his pursuit of a ONE title opportunity.

But Belingon knows he can't get ahead of himself.

“Siyempre iyon ang goal ko, ang makakuha ng title shot, makuha ang belt. Iyon ang motivation ko,” the Team Lakay fighter said in Tuesday's media conference ahead of the "ONE: Legends of the World" card that takes place at Mall of Asia Arena on Friday.

“Kailangan manalo muna ako dito para mabigyan ng title shot next year.”

While Belingon's goal is to eventually go after reigning ONE bantamweight champion Bibiano Fernandes, Chung wants to build on his recent success.

“I’m very excited to be here, to be putting up a show,” said the visiting fighter who had a breakout ONE debut by stopping Chinese grappling ace Zhong Qing Ya in 2 rounds.

“Kevin Belingon is a very experienced, very explosive, well-rounded opponent. But I have what it takes to finish him.”

Belingon said he expects an explosive fight with Chung.

When asked what kind of victory is he wants, Belingon said: “Dito kailangan manalo ng klaro. Either by knockout o ma-dominate ko talaga.”
