MANILA, Philippines – Nonito Donaire Jr.’s rival Guillermo Rigondeaux plans to steal the show from the “Filipino Flash” when the Cuban defector fights on the undercard of the Donaire-Jorge Arce bout.
Rigondeaux has already agreed to fight Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym on the undercard of the December 15 fight card that will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Gary Hyde, Rigondeaux’s manager, said the Kratingdaenggym bout gives them an opportunity to achieve two things -- get back at the Thai boxer for knocking out his friend Bernard Dunne in 2009; and to show how good Rigondeaux really is.
“I will make sure [Rigondeaux] brings his 'A' game on December 15th as I witnessed the Thai's brutal attack of Bernard Dunne in 2009. [Rigondeaux] spent some time with Bernard last year in Ireland, and he will be looking to give him and Irish boxing fans some sweet revenge while stealing the show from Nonito Donaire," Hyde said in Boxing Scene.
Donaire is also expected to have a blockbuster fight against fan-favorite Arce, who is known for his brawling style.
