Gilas continues to practice behind closed doors

MANILA, Philippines — Gilas Pilipinas continues to prepare for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers behind closed doors.

Twelve players were present on Monday as the Philippine national basketball team held its morning practice at the Meralco Gym.

National team mainstay Jayson Castro and other veterans such as Gabe Norwood, June Mar Fajardo, and Calvin Abueva spearheaded the practice.

Also present were young stars Troy Rosario, Mac Belo, Roger Pogoy, Carl Bryan Cruz, Allein Maliksi, Kevin Alas, and Raymond Almazan.

Newly drafted PBA rookie Kiefer Ravena also attended Monday’s practice.

The national team is expected to practice again in the evening as their preparation for the World Cup qualifiers intensifies.

Their first game of the home-and-away qualifiers is on November 24 against Japan in Tokyo.
