MANILA, Philippines – Ricky Hatton should not be ashamed about his losses to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., a boxing trainer said.

Jeff Mayweather, Floyd’s uncle who works as a boxing coach, said Floyd and Pacquiao are the best boxers today.

Mayweather said Hatton should instead be proud about facing the toughest competition in the sport.

"There is no shame in losing to Floyd and Pacquiao. They are the two best in the game and you (Hatton) were one of the marquee venues,” Mayweather told Fight Hype

Hatton, Britain’s biggest boxing star, fell into depression after suffering stinging losses in the hands of Pacquiao and Floyd.

He went 10 rounds with Floyd and was knocked out cold in the second round of his last bout with Pacquiao.

He spent a 3-year hiatus from the ring after his last defeat.

Last September, Hatton announced his return to boxing.

Mayweather said he hopes the Briton has finally got his head clear.

“He is back in the sport that he once loved and hopefully he is happy with it and wants to give the fans what he once provided and what they have grown to expect from him," said Mayweather.
