MANILA – The Sta. Lucia Realtors, who scored a 101-93 win over Burger King (BK) last Friday, are set to face the undefeated Alaska Aces on Wednsday.
Alaska sits atop the standings while Sta. Lucia is at No. 2.
"Alaska’s on a 4-game winning streak so we need to bring our A-game," Realtors coach Boyet Fernandez told PBA.ph.
Aces coach Tim Cone said his team is looking forward to taking on the Realtors. "They always bring great discipline and defensive intensity to their games," said Cone. "We have met in the semifinals of the last two Philippine Cups, so we know each other well."
Cone also addressed concerns that the Aces will not be able to sustain their momentum as they are coming of a 9-day break.
"When you’re winning you don’t worry about the long break and the possibility of not being in game shape," he stated.
Good match-up
Fernandez, meantime, said in another PBA.ph report that he will be fielding Filipino-American rookie Joshua Urbiztondo on Wednesday.
Urbiztondo was named "KFC/Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week" for the period of Oct. 26 to 30 because of his breakout performance against BK last Friday.
The Fil-Am made 24 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
"It will be a good matchup, [LA] Tenorio and Urbiztondo," remarked Fernandez. – With a report from PBA.ph
