Streaking Aces topple Texters

MANILA, Philippines – Alaska Aces rode on Jayvee Casio’s heroics to hammer out a stunning 94-92 win over defending champion Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters in the PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday.

With the scores tied at 92-all, Casio escaped Kelly Williams’ defense and slipped in the game winner with 2.4 seconds left in the game.

“The game was out of hand and Jayvee single-handedly brought us back. He refused to lose and he made us look good,” a delighted Alaska coach Luigi Trillo said in

Cyrus Baguio also nailed 16 points for Alaska’s 5th straight victory in 7 games, while San Sebastian standout Calvin Abueva drained 14 points and collared 5 rebounds.

But it was Casio who carried Alaska down the stretch by scoring 12 of his 25 points in the last 3 minutes.

The Aces gave Talk ‘N Text its 1st loss in 7 starts.
“It’s just one game and you can’t get excited on certain things. But who wouldn’t want to beat Talk n Text. We hadn’t beat them since 2010 when we had Diamond Simpson as import,” said Trillo.

“I wasn’t even diagramming. It was really Jayvee,” he added.

Jimmy Alapag paced the Texters with 17 points. Ranidel de Ocampo chipped in 15, while Ryan Reyes had 13.
