MANILA, Philippines – Filipino fighter Honorio Banario admitted that he was upset after losing his ONE FC featherweight crown to Japanese veteran Koji Oishi in front of his countrymen last May.

“I wanted to apologize to all the Filipinos watching,” said “The Rock.” “But I will come back stronger and better.”

During that fight, the 24-year-old was close to retaining the title when he had Oishi cornered and was seconds away from ending the fight in the first round.

The Japanese, however, managed to survive the onslaught. In the following round, Oishi clipped Banario with a perfectly timed counter right hand, knocking out the Filipino to wrest the ONE FC featherweight belt.

With lessons learned, Banario said he looks forward to meeting Oishi again in ONE FC: Moment of Truth on December 6.

“I was winning the first round. Now is my time to get back my title. Oishi, I am coming for you,” he said.
