MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Azkals are reportedly slated to face Timnas Indonesia in a rematch this November, a football website reported.
According to Asean Football, the Indonesian Football Association has confirmed a November 9 friendly against the Azkals in between the Bali Devata Cup which will be held on November 8 to 11.
Bob Hippy, Indonesian national team coordinator, said the exhibition game against the Philippines is important in the Timnas’ final tune up for the 2012 Suzuki Cup.
“It is the final test for the players and also for the coach to assess the level of the team before he decides on the list of 22 players,” said Hippy.
The Philippines held Indonesia to a 2-2 draw in a highly charged exhibition match at the Rizal memorial Stadium last June.
Just like Indonesia, the Azkals are also preparing for the Cup. The Filipinos have already scheduled a November 15 tussle against the Singaporean Lions in Cebu City.
The Suzuki Cup begins on November 24.
The Azkals are clustered with Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar in Group A, while Indonesia is grouped together with Malaysia, Singapore and Laos.
