MANILA – Olcen Racela takes full control of Petron Blaze’s coaching reins on Friday when the Boosters play against GlobalPort in the PBA Philippine Cup.

Racela will no longer share coaching chores with Rajko Toroman after the Serbian consultant got relieved of his duties with the team, according to PBA’s official website.

Petron only had 2 wins in 5 starts under the shared coaching set-up between Racela and Toroman.

“Coach Rajko is no longer taking active part in the team. The only other thing I can say about the matter is that the management surely knows the best for the team,” said Racela.

Toroman, who used to coach Smart Gilas Pilipinas, was fired reportedly because of growing conflict between him and the Petron players.

“He’s hard on the players in practice. His practice sessions are way too tough compared to PBA norm,” according to a PBA source.

The Boosters are scheduled to take on the Batang Pier on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Petron will be playing minus their prized rookie Junmar Fajardo and veteran Danny Ildefonso, who are both in the injured list.
“Minus Fajardo and Danny, lumiit na kami. J-Wash (Jay Washington) will now play No. 5 position. Lalaro na sila ng sabay ni Arwind Santos,” Racela said.
Petron, however, remains a favorite against GlobalPort who is at the bottom of the standings with Air21 at 1-4.
