MANILA, Philippines -- Only one hurdle is standing in the way of still undefeated Lyceum of the Philippines University’s automatic advance into the Finals of the NCAA 93 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Only, that hurdle is defending champion San Beda College.

The Red Lions finally get to make good on all their preparations for the only team to have defeated them in the tournament when they are matched up anew with the perfect Pirates on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

LPU (17-0) goes for an elimination round sweep at the expense of San Beda (16-1) at 2:00 PM in a game with implications not only for the two of them, but also for the rest of the league. All of the action will be on S+A, S+A HD, and livestream.

A win for the Pirates will give them automatic entry into the Finals and will force stepladder playoffs among the Red Lions, Jose Rizal University, and whoever comes out on top among Arellano University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and San Sebastian College-Recoletos.

A win for San Beda, on the other hand, will ensure that a Final Four will be taking place.

Moreover, a win of six points and more grants the one-seed to the Red Lions. Otherwise, the top spot goes to LPU.

-- San Sebastian fights for dear life against still dangerous Perpetual --

Arellano University and Colegio de San Juan de Letran have taken care of business and now, it’s San Sebastian College-Recoletos’ turn to do so in the NCAA 93 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The Golden Stags will go all-out to give themselves a fighting chance for the fourth and final playoff berth by beating still dangerous University of Perpetual Help on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Baste (8-9) wants nothing more than a three-team logjam for the fourth spot, but the Altas (4-13) want nothing more than to play spoiler at 4:00 PM. All of the action will be on S+A, S+A HD, and livestream.

The game is must-win for San Sebastian which needs to tie the 9-9 Chiefs and Knights to stay alive.

If a three-team tie takes place, the Golden Stags will get a bye due to their superior quotient among the three teams while Arellano and Letran duke it out for dear life on Friday.

The winner there will then face Baste next Tuesday.

Whoever triumphs there will finally complete the playoff picture.

In the Juniors division, the San Beda Red Cubs (12-5) look to give themselves a shot at the top-seed at the expense of the LPU Junior Pirates (7-9) at 12:00 PM while the San Sebastian Staglets (10-7) look to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth when they take on the Perpetual Junior Altas (6-10) at 6:00 PM.
