MANILA, Philippines – After giving a big boost to the Philippine men's national basketball team, Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. (BAVI) is expanding its sports portfolio by supporting a volleyball league as a title sponsor.

It was formally announced on Wednesday that Chooks-to-Go will be the primary sponsor for the Philippine Superliga (PSL) in its season-ending Grand Prix that starts on Saturday.

"Volleyball is one sport that we believe ay may following talaga sa mga Pilipino," said BAVI president Ronald Mascariñas. "Like basketball, we're throwing our support sa volleyball as well."

Mascariñas revealed that they were originally asked to sponsor one team, but eventually decided to be a title sponsor instead so as to "stay neutral."

His ultimate dream, Mascariñas said, is to support the national volleyball team the same way that they support the men's national basketball team.

"We want to stay neutral, and hopefully, mabuo natin 'yung both camps ng volleyball, so we get the best of the best for our national team," said Mascariñas, referring to the long-running war for control of the sport in the Philippines.

Chooks-to-Go is not stopping at volleyball. Mascariñas said they want to keep supporting Philippine sports, starting with the chess team next year.

"We're in talks with the National Chess Federation (of the Philippines) to be the main sponsor for their national campaign. Hopefully for next year, we'll be behind the national chess initiatives," he explained.
