Bombers claim last berth in Fr. Martin q'finals

MANILA, Philippines – The Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers crushed the San Sebastian College-B Stags, 101-58, to claim the last quarterfinals seat in Group B of the men’s division in the 10th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup.

Paolo Pontejos scored 16 points for the Heavy Bombers, who notched their fourth win in seven games.

They earned the fourth seed in their bracket, joining early qualifiers University of the East, Arellano University and Informatics.

They will meet the National University Bulldogs, the top qualifier from Group A, during Saturday’s quarterfinal games at the Trinity University of Asia gym in Quezon City.

Meanwhile, the Hope Christian School Soldiers stopped the San Beda Red Cubs, 75-65, in the juniors division to win their sixth straight game in Group A.

John Apacible led Hope with 18 points. They are now just one win away from sweeping their bracket and will need to win against Chiang Kai Shek B to gain the top semi-finals seat in Group A.

The Red Cubs remain in contention for a semi-finals berth with a 5-1 slate. Noorish Decapia scored 16 points.
