Altalettes, 2 others hurdle foes in IPPCA Cup

MANILA, Philippines - University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and De La Salle-Zobel whipped their respective foes to lead the early winners in the juniors division of the IPPCA Football Pre-Season Cup at the Nuvali Field in Sta. Rosa, Laguna over the weekend.

The Altalettes overwhelmed the Letran Squires, 11-2, while the Junior Archers held the Lyceum Baby Pirates to a single goal en route to a 10-1 romp.

In the other juniors game, La Salle Greenhills outsteadied Holistic Education Development Center, 1-0.

With the win, UPHSD, DLSZ and LSGH earned three points each for an early three-way tie in the tournament organized by Filoil Flying V Sports.

Left winger Mark Louie Alberto and forward John Vincent Roldan scored two goals each to lead the Altalettes past the Squires, who drew a goal each from San Antonio Sentenaryo and Julian Francisco.

Louie Montenegro, meanwhile, racked up three goals and Mikel Maniquis had two in the Junior Achers’ victory over the Baby Pirates.

Jesus Cayadong delivered the lone goal for the Intramuros-based Baby Pirates.

The month-long league, sponsored by by Meralco, Nuvali, Nature’s Spring, Molten, N20 Gastropub, Boysen Paints, BDO, Topcoms/StarSports Korea, Bacchus, CDO San Marino Corned Tuna and Pingping Lechon, is co-organized and funded by IPPCA members Chemrez Technologies Inc., Eastern Petroleum Corp., Filpride/USA88, Seaoil Philippines Inc., Flying V, Oilink, Unioil, International Engineer Phils., Inc., Filoil Energy Company, City Oil, Metro Oil Subic, LPGMA, Omni Petroleum Corp, Trans Overseas Industrial Corp. and CIIS.
