Warriors earn top seed in Fr. Martin q'finals

MANILA, Philippines – The University of the East Red Warriors once again leaned on Mustapha Arafat and Renz Palma as they swamped the Trinity University of Asia Stallions, 70-65, to earn the top seed in the quarterfinal phase of the 10th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup.

Arafat fired 23 points, while Palma added 17 points for the Warriors, who wound up with a 6-1 record in Group B.
This puts the Warriors in a crossover match-up against the Technological Institute of the Philippines Engineers at 12:30 pm at the TUA gym in Quezon City Saturday.

The Informatics Icons (6-1) took the second seeding in Group B, and they will clash with the San Sebastian College-A Stags (6-2).

The fourth place Arellano University Chiefs (5-2) will meet the San Beda Red Lions, who claimed the second seed in Group A at 6-2.

In the juniors division, the Xavier School Stallions made it to the semi-finals after ending the elimination round with a default win over the Far Eastern University-FERN Baby Tamaraws to finish second in Group with a 5-1 record.

Jerby Alacre, Sean Nicolas and Joshua Gonzales all finished in double figures for the Letran Squires, who defeated the University of Sto. Tomas Tiger Cubs, 60-45.

The Squires have a 6-2 slate in their group and remain in the hunt for a semis slot.

In other juniors games, Raymar Cayudac scored 18 points for the UE Pages in their 85-69 victory over Angeles University Foundation.

Jose Rizal University stopped Adamson, 80-59, behind Jun Ordonez and Andrew Estrella.
