MANILA, Philippines – Mexican Brandon Rios is game on the possibility of fighting either Manny Pacquiao or Juan Manuel Marquez in the near future.

Rios, who had his first junior welterweight fight against fellow Mexican Mike Alvarado, said he is more than capable of defeating the winner of the Pacquiao-Marquez fight.

He engaged Alvarado in an all-out brawl, halting the latter in 7 rounds.

"You see what happened to Mike Alvarado? I think I could do the same thing to them, too. Mike Alvarado, I think, he hits harder than them and he's more tougher," Rios told HBO’s Max Kellerman following his win.

His performance nearly eclipsed Nonito Donaire's 9th round stoppage of Toshiaki Nishioka in the main event.

Rios, the former World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight champion, said he is open to fighting fellow Mexican Marquez.

But he seems to prefer a bigger fight against Pacquiao.

"Pacquiao's an in-and-out guy. But you know what? Like I always do, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. taught me very well. Break the body down and the head will fall down," said Rios.

He is also confident that he can retain his punching power even if he climbs up to 147-pounds.

"I have power and I brought it up to 140. And I can take it up to 147. I have power, it just takes a little longer,"

Rios’ name was recently floated by boxing promoter Bob Arum in connection with the fourth Pacquiao-Marquez fight.

Prior to the Rios-Alvarado fight, Arum said a fight between Pacquiao and the Rios-Alvarado winner "could be unbelievable."

"The public will go crazy for that fight. Imagine Manny against either of these animals (Rios or Alvarado.) Manny will have to become an 'animal' himself. Absolutely. These guys will make him an animal."

Arum has reserved an April 2013 date for Pacquiao's ring return after the Marquez fight.

"He (Pacquiao) wanted to fight no later than the middle of April so he can come back (to the Philippines) for the elections [next May],” said Arum.

He said that they can talk to Rios if the Floyd Mayweather-Pacquiao fight fails to materialize again.
