MANILA, Philippines – Mixed martial arts (MMA) pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva refuses to underestimate “American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar despite the latter’s status as ab underdog.

Silva, who will be invading the light heavyweight division to fight Bonnar, said that unlike him, the “American Psycho” doesn’t carry the pressure of winning.

“The fact that he has nothing to lose makes him way more dangerous,” said Silva in

Unlike Silva, who toes a professional MMA record of 30 wins and 4 defeats, Bonnar has a win-loss record of 17-7.

This makes Bonnar a huge underdog coming into the main event of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 153 this weekend.

Nevertheless, Silva treats Bonnar just like everyone of his past opponent.

“It's an honor to fight Stephan Bonnar,” said the Brazilian middleweight champion.

Chink in armor
UFC commentator Joe Rogan said Bonnar has a chance in beating Silva.

He said the Brazilian fighter is vulnerable to ground fighting, where Bonnar is well-versed.

“Stephan Bonnar has a very slick ground game. And if there is any area where we've seen anderson silva struggle in the past, it's with grapplers,” said Rogan.

Another plus for Bonnar, said Rogan, is his courage and capability to absorb blows.

“Stephan Bonnar has an incredible will and desire to compete. He has a chin made of cement. He has a ridiculous ability to take punishment.”
