MANILA, Philippines – Boxing promoter Bob Arum sees a possible fight between Manny Pacquiao and the winner of the Brandon Rios-Mike Alvarado tiff in the future.
The Top Rank Inc. executive said the fight could be arranged for Pacquiao’s next bout in 2013.
"He (Pacquiao) wanted to fight no later than the middle of April so he can come back (to the Philippines) for the elections [next May],” Arum told Boxing Scene’s Ronnie Nathanielsz.
Arum earlier said that he has already reserved April 20 for Pacquiao.
But the fighting congressman will have to take care of the Juan Manuel Marquez fight first.
Pacquiao is scheduled for a fourth slugfest against the gritty Mexican on December 8.
Arum said Pacquiao fighting either Rios and Alvarado "could be unbelievable."
"The public will go crazy for that fight. Imagine Manny against either of these animals (Rios or Alvarado.) Manny will have to become an 'animal' himself. Absolutely. These guys will make him an animal."
The Rios-Alvarado will be the co-main feature of the weekend fight card in Carson City, California which will be headlined by the super bantamweight tiff between Nonito Donaire Jr. and Toshiaki Nishioka.
