TIP Engineers enter Fr. Martin q'finals

MANILA, Philippines – The Informatics Icons and the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) Engineers came up with sizzling performances as they zeroed in on quarterfinals seats in the 10th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup.

The Engineers stopped the Mapua Cardinals, 8-63, behind the efforts of Jeffrey Yanes, Jemuel Namotvatcat and Sean Paolo at their homecourt in the TIP Gym.

Yanes had 20 points, while Paolo and Namocatcat fired 13 and 12 each, as the Engineers finished Group A with a 5-3 slate.

They formally entered the quarterfinals along with early Group A qualifiers National University, San Beda and San Sebastian College-A.

The Icons, meanwhile, banked on the big games of Japs Bautista, Mark Doligon and Mark Montuano in routing the University of Perpetual Help Altas, 82-50, last Saturday at the Arellano University gym.

The Icons got 14 points from Bautista and Doligon and 13 from Montuano as they went on to post their fifth win in six matches in Group B.

They moved one game closer in earning a quarterfinals berth, joining the University of the East Red Warriors and the Arellano University Chiefs.

In the juniors division, Chiang Kai Shek defeated the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs, 73-48, while Adamson whipped EAC-ICA, 75-55, and Trinity prevailed over FEU-FERN, 74-60.
