MANILA, Philippines – Kaya solidified its lead in Group B with another grind-it-out 1-nil win over Diliman Victory Liner Tuesday night in the 2012 United Football League Cup at the Rizal Memorial FootballStadium.

In the battle between last season’s runner-up in Division I and II, Kaya struggled offensively but was able to pull off the win on Jonah Romero’s goal in the 42nd minute.

Kaya, which came close to winning the league title won by Global last season, missed several offensive tries. But Romero, who is a member of the Guam national team that played the Azkals twice this year, connected after a big defensive breakdown by Diliman.

It was the second straight victory for Kaya, which blanked Forza FC on Nate Burkey’s brace over the weekend, after opening the tournament with a disappointing 1-1 draw against the Green Archers United.

In the nightcap, the Globe-powered Green Archers blasted a hapless Dolphins United side, 7-2, to remain at second spot in Group B with four points.

Arnie Pasinabo and skipper Tating Pasilan scored a goal each in the first half as the Archers took a 2-0 lead at the half.

The Archers broke away for good in the second half on Ronnie Aguisanda and Jesus Melliza's goals before a flurry of exchange in the final minutes kept the match interesting.

The Dolphins finally put up a semblance of a fight in the 73rd minute when Romnick Echin scored off a free kick. But the Archers quickly answered back with a Nikko Villa goal a minute later.

Paolo Salenga hit back for the Dolphins in the 77th minute mark but that was all they could do as Melliza completed a brace in the injury time to seal the Archers' first win.
