MANILA, Philippines - The Kasibulan Grassroots Course and Football Festival kicks off its NCR program with courses and football fests at the Villamor field in Pasay on Oct. 10-12, at the Don Bosco Field in Mandaluyong on Oct. 17-19 and University of Makati on Oct. 24-26.

Around 200 local coaches and more than 1,500 kids – aged 9 to 12 – are expected to participate in the three-day event organized by the National Capital Region Football Association (NCRFA) and presented by Pagcor, Vitamilk Champ and Eurivit Multivitamins.

The free football grassroots course and festival is a long-term program aimed at enabling the country to qualify in the 2019 FIFA Under 17-World Cup.

“We take pride in responding to this call for a partnership in developing football further in the country, particularly for kids,” said Maj. Gen. Oscar Rabena of Philippine Air Force (retired), who will also be the special guest for the Pasay Kasibulan closing rites on Oct. 12 at the Villamor Football Field together with Mayor Antonino Calixto of Pasay City and Department of Education officials. Certificates of participation will be distributed to the coaches and kids.

Meanwhile, NCRFA president Roland Tulay cited the City of Pasay, Mandaluyong and Makati, the Department of Education, Pagcor, Eurivit Multivitamins and Vitamilk for linking it up with the PFF in developing the grassroots program for football.

“With the present popularity of football in the country, this program will definitely help sustain its development,” he said.

A memorandum of agreement was recently signed by the PFF with the Department of Education wherein elementary PE teachers and grade school students will form the core of participants for the nationwide Kasibulan program.

The three-day football course and festival include a seminar for coaches, public school teachers and barangay sports advocates as well as a kids’ skills assessment and training with a minimum of 60 adults and 500 kids expected to participate in each venue.

Registration is still open, according to NCRFA Grassroots Development Officer Myk Agbayani. For details, call 0917-5417310 or DepEd MAPEA supervisor Pedro Gloriani at 0939-9085537, Rex Ado at 5336085 loc. 102, and Lamberto S.A. Cruz at 0921-9798685.
