MANILA, Philippines – Pungluang Sor Singyu, world bantamweight contender and AJ Banal’s opponent in Pinoy Pride XVII, is set to arrive in the Philippines on October 16 or four days before the fight.

Sor Singyu, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) No. 2 bantamweight, will be accompanied by Onesongchai representative Michel Du and coaches Phanlop Sriphraiwan, Mueankhit Saensuk and Anirut Chuebang, to Manila.

Banal, the WBO No. 1 contender, and Sor Singyu will slug it out for the vacant WBO bantamweight title, which was vacated Mexican champion Jorge Arce.

The confident Sor Singyu has undergone intense training at an army base in Thailand in preparation for the higher-ranked Banal.

Banal, on the other hand, trained under the watchful eyes of coaching siblings Edmund and Edito Villamor.

Also working with Banal are other coaches handling his nutrition, strength and conditioning among others.

Banal and Sor Singyu will fight at the main event of The Pinoy Pride XVII: Philippines vs The World promoted by ALA Promotions.

Also included in the card are Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista, who faces Mexican Daniel Ruiz for the WBO international featherweight title; and Jason “El Niño” Pagara, who will test the undefeated Miguel Antoine of Barbados for the WBO International light welterweight championship.

Pinoy Pride XVII will take place at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena on Saturday, October 20. It will be aired by ABS-CBN Channel 2 the next day starting 10:15 a.m.
