MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle’s rookie star Jeron Teng is backing the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers to triumph over the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the Finals of the UAAP Season 75 men’s basketball tournament.

In an interview on ANC’s “Hardball” sports show Wednesday, Teng said he is picking the Tigers to win the UAAP title.

“UST siyempre,” he said. “UST in two games.”

Jeron’s older brother, Jeric, is the high-scoring swingman of the Tigers, and the younger Teng could not be happier that at least one of them is playing in the UAAP Finals.

“I’m really happy for him. It’s his first time to enter the Finals, and I’m really proud of him,” Jeron said.

A potential Finals match-up between the Teng brothers was derailed when the fourth-seeded Green Archers lost to the Blue Eagles in the Final Four.

Jeron will instead have to console himself with cheering for his older brother against the Archers’ archrivals.

“I’m really happy for the UST community,” he said. “UST is close to my heart.”

The Tigers are facing the Eagles in a rematch of their classic three-game series in the Season 69 Finals. UST won that match-up in three games.
