Magnolia Chess tourney kicks off Saturday

MANILA, Philippines – The 57th edition of the First Saturday Magnolia Chess Tournament gets underway on October 6 at the Perez Bldg., Doña Soledad Ave. corner Australia St., Better Living Subdivision in Parañaque City.

The tournament is open to all untitled and unrated players whose NCFP rating shall not exceed 1950 or below.

The champion will receive a P3,000 prize, while the runner-up gets P2,000 and the third placer receives P1,000. The top three will also receive a trophy.

Category winners for the top senior, college, high school, elementary and female players will receive P500 each as well.

The event is being organized by the Parañaque Chess Association, headed by Dr. Bong Perez and sponsored by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines secretary-general Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino Jr., sportsman Boy Francisco, Spare and Strike, Jollibee and Shakey’s.
