MANILA, Philippines – Adamson University big man Papi Sarr has been playing at a better level in the UAAP Season 80 tournament since making his return in their second game against University of Santo Tomas (UST).

Sarr missed their season opener against Ateneo de Manila University due to a nagging groin injury, and was lackluster against UST and De La Salle University. Since then, however, he has generally played better, and tallied another strong effort on Sunday against University of the East (UE).

Playing against a smaller UE team, Sarr scored 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Soaring Falcons to a 79-60 win, their third of the season.

"I can't say that I am 100%," said Sarr. "I'm thankful that Coach Franz (Pumaren) gave me the time to play. I'm lucky that I had a double-double that actually helped the team for the win."

Sarr estimates that he is only at 60%, but stressed that he is working hard in practice to get back in top shape.

"In practice, Coach Franz tries to make me into battle shape," he said. "I'm not okay (yet), but by the next games or in the second round probably, I'm gonna be in battle shape."

Sarr was quite pleased with his effort against the Red Warriors, but noted that they have to quickly move on and focus on another tough match-up against University of the Philippines on Wednesday.

"This game is over now," he said. "We're just going to rest, and go back to practice tomorrow for the next game."
